Metsä Board, a leading European producer of fresh fibre paperboards and part of Metsä Group, will showcase its premium lightweight paperboards and 360 Services at FACHPACK 2025, taking place on 23–25 September in Nuremberg, Germany (Hall 4A, Stand 116).
At the event, Metsä Board’s experts will present the ongoing modernisation at the Simpele mill, including a new coating line scheduled to start up in October 2025. This EUR 60 million investment will enhance print quality of MetsäBoard Classic FBB, a high-performance board grade designed for food and pharmaceutical packaging. Thanks to new technology, the share of fossil-free energy in production at the Simpele mill is expected to increase from 89% to 98%.
At Fachpack, Metsä Board will also relaunch MetsäBoard Natural FBB, now more readily available thanks to recent enhancements in sheet deliveries for selected basis weights across Europe. This uncoated folding boxboard, known for its tactile surface and high bulk, meets the growing demand for packaging solutions that stand out. It supports brand-building from the very first touch—offering a distinctive feel that reinforces identity and elevates the consumer experience.
Material choices in packaging affect functionality, efficiency and climate considerations. Metsä Board’s experts will explain how the company’s 360 Services can support decision-making in these areas. At the stand, Metsä Board will present third-party verified life cycle assessment case studies, demonstrating how they support customers in making fact-based decisions on packaging materials.
On Wednesday, 24 September, Sustainability Manager Kaisa Munukka will speak on “Data-driven approach and collaboration towards safe, compliant and low-carbon packaging” in Hall 7, booth 7–509.
Visitors to Metsä Board’s stand will also have the opportunity to experience Muoto™ 3D fibre products in use, as they will be featured in the stand’s catering service.
