How Material Circularity Statement supports PPWR compliance
For paperboard products, the first PPWR requirements becoming applicable include restrictions on certain substances in packaging. These cover limits for heavy metals and restrictions on PFAS in food contact packaging. The Material Circularity Statement provides information on how Metsä Board products comply with these requirements. This includes confirmation that regulated heavy metal levels are below the applicable limits and that Metsä Board does not use PFAS in the production of its paperboards.
The statement provides an overview of how Metsä Board products align with key PPWR requirements, covering topics such as packaging minimisation, substances in packaging, recyclability and compostability. It also confirms that Metsä Board operates in accordance with the relevant PPWR requirements currently in force and follows the ongoing development of the regulation.
While many additional PPWR requirements will apply in the coming years, Metsä Board continues to support customers through compliance-supporting documentation, sustainability expertise and packaging design services.
