Development projects across business areas

Vaula Raassina earned her spurs for Metsä’s business development through job rotation. She has previously worked as customer service manager and as business development manager at Metsä. As project manager, Vaula is now in charge of the Group-level Sales & Operations Planning project, which encompasses all Metsä’s business operations. The goal of the project is to develop operational planning and improve business productivity as a result. In practice, Vaula ensures that the project stays on schedule, keeps to budget and works towards the goals.

“We carry out extensive development projects in all business areas, so we need to understand both the big picture and the important role of smaller elements for business operations and the personnel. We must and can learn new things all the time. In this job, you also need flexibility and adaptability to changing situations,” Vaula explains.

Vaula appreciates the fact that Metsä’s entire personnel share common values.

“It’s great to work in a company with responsible values that are complied with in practice. Responsibility is not just a marketing slogan for us. We contribute to combating climate change and voice our opinions about societal themes. Our operations also have an impact on the economy and employment in Finland,” Vaula explains.

“We also act responsibly within the company. We address shortcomings appropriately and respect our employees, which is very important to me.”
