Every year, we offer hundreds of summer jobs for students in various fields. Many of our professionals have started their careers with summer work or internships.

Our business covers the entire value chain of wood, from the Finnish forest to the final products sold on the world market. Most of our summer employees work in production, maintenance or wood procurement and forest services, but there are also interesting and versatile summer jobs available in other business functions and group services. Tasks are available, e.g. in financial administration, ICT, sales, marketing and customer service at the head office and in our production units.

​We offer internships for students from vocational schools, universities and universities of applied sciences. An internship enables you to put theory into practice and to gain valuable work experience.

Internships for universities and universities of applied sciences

As a university student, you have the opportunity to complete an internship with us that as part of your studies. Internships are mostly done as summer jobs. Sometimes internships are open in other seasons as well. See open jobs page.

Interships for vocational schools

For students of vocational schools, we offer internship positions during the academic year. During the on-the-job learning period, you get to know the tasks and work environment in your field. Learning takes place at the workplace under the guidance of our more experienced professionals.

At Metsä Group, several dozen theses are completed every year, both in production and product development, as well as in wood procurement and business processes. We offer thesis opportunities for students in both universities and universities of applied sciences. We encourage our own professionals to complete theses and support them in their supervision work, so that the benefits of new research can be used in the best possible way at Metsä Group.

Most of Metsä Group's thesis workers are found among our summer employees. A well and responsibly completed summer internship tells us about the student's ability to handle the agreed tasks and complete them on schedule. Sometimes thesis topics are suggested directly to universities by contacting professors/teachers or through student associations, or by opening a thesis position for public search on our website. The work opportunities we offer to young people under the age of 18 (15-17) varies from country to country.

A school internship is often a young person's first step in getting to know working life. Through training, you get a feel for what happens in the workplace. Even a short internship period is a good opportunity to get an overview of the forest industry and its various professions. We offer younger interns a variety of auxiliary tasks and the opportunity to get to know the work of our professionals in different fields.
