Our business covers the entire value chain for wood, from the forest to the end product. Thus, we are able to offer a broad range of interesting jobs in production, wood supply and support functions.

We offer internships for students from vocational institutions, universities and universities of applied sciences. An internship enables you to put theory into practice and to gain valuable work experience.

At Metsä Group, several dozen theses are completed every year, both in production and product development, as well as in wood procurement and business processes. We offer thesis opportunities for students in both universities and universities of applied sciences. We encourage our own professionals to complete theses and support them in their supervision work, so that the benefits of new research can be used in the best possible way at Metsä Group.
Most of Metsä Group's thesis workers are found among our summer employees. A well and responsibly completed summer internship tells us about the student's ability to handle the agreed tasks and complete them on schedule. Sometimes thesis topics are suggested directly to universities by contacting professors/teachers or through student associations, or by opening a thesis position for public search on our website. So follow our jobs and activate the job alert, and you will be among the first to hear if a research position in your field of study becomes available.

In Finland we participate in the national Learn about Working Life and Earn Money campaign. We offer young people aged 15–17 an opportunity to work in our units for two weeks in the summer. Most of these jobs are located at our mills. Young people are hired for cleaning and landscaping (planting, mowing lawns, etc.), assisting with mill service work and taking care of minor forestry assignments.
In Finland a period of work experience – called TET in the Finnish education system – is often young people’s first experience of working life. It offers young people an opportunity to learn about working life and how workplaces function. At Metsä, TET periods usually last from one day to a week.
A TET period is an excellent opportunity to gain an overall view of the forest industry and its professions. The period benefits not only you, but also us as an employer, as the forestry sector will need new employees in the future – perhaps you are exactly who we need.

The application period for the programme varies by unit, but it generally runs from early March to early May. For this reason, you should contact us at the beginning of the year to learn more.
