Working at mills

At Metsä Group’s production facilities, thousands of professionals contribute to manufacturing in diverse roles.

Thousands of professionals work at Metsä Group’s production facilities in diverse and responsible employee roles.

Flexible shift-work and multi-skilled production careers at Metsä Group mills

Our skilled workers – such as production operators, process technicians, maintenance fitters, and reliability technicians – typically hold vocational qualifications, and many have also completed Metsä Group’s apprenticeship training.

In production roles, multi-skilling adds variety to the work, and our shift workers’ individual working time model supports well-being throughout different career stages (in Finland). Maintenance roles are usually daytime jobs.

Career development and job rotation opportunities

White-collar roles at production facilities focus on expert, development, and managerial tasks. Examples of these roles include department engineers, production engineers, and development engineers, production managers, supervisors, shift managers, and planners. These roles typically require a technical university degree. Our large group also offers many opportunities for job rotation and career development.

Modern, safe and expert-led workplaces in the forest industry

At Metsä Group, each of us is the best expert in their work and has the opportunity to regenerate how they work. Safety and modern technology make our mills comfortable workplaces, where you can look forward to working long into the future
