Metsä Group is recruiting around 850 summer employees across Finland for next summer. For example, we are also looking for people to fill completely new positions at the Rauma sawmill, which started continuous operations in September.

Metsä Group’s investments create new jobs both in Finland and abroad. Since 2015, the company has invested or is currently in the process of investing more than EUR 6 billion in expansion and development of its operations. Most of these investments are made in Finland.

“Our investments create new opportunities also for our summer employees. There are now new pathways to working life for people with skills in various fields,” says Pertti Hietaniemi, Senior Vice President, HR.

For example, we are looking for summer employees for the world’s most modern sawmill in Rauma for the first time. The new sawmill employs around 100 people, and summer employees are also needed. At the beginning of 2023, the new Kajaani wood supply district will start operations, and we are looking for summer employees to work there as well.

Metsä Group offers also numerous other summer jobs around Finland. Summer jobs are available in wood supply, forest services, production and maintenance for students at various stages of their studies. Jobs are also available in areas such as finance, sourcing and logistics, research and development, marketing and customer service.

Finnish language skills are not essential for all summer jobs. Metsä Group is increasingly reaching out to international students and offers summer jobs and traineeships for them as well.

“We work with our partner universities, the University of Helsinki and the University of Oulu, among others. For example, we will organise an event at the University of Oulu on 24 January 2023 to present the operations of Metsä Group and tell students about our summer jobs,” continues Hietaniemi.

Metsä Group’s summer employees will get to take on responsibility and will be supported by a competent workplace community. Summer job at Metsä gives opportunities to become a professional in our renewable raw material, northern wood.

“Our 2022 summer employees especially praised their nice co-workers and the fair workplace community. According to a survey conducted as part of the Responsible Summer Job campaign, as many as 97% of our summer employees who responded to the survey would recommend Metsä Group to a friend,” says Hietaniemi.

Metsä Group is participating in Oikotie’s Responsible Summer Job campaign also in 2023. We are committed to the principles of a responsible workplace. These include a proper induction, consideration for the employees’ wellbeing and support offered by supervisors.

The application period for summer jobs starts on 7 December 2022 and ends on 28 February 2023. Check out our summer jobs on our website. https://www.metsagroup.com/careers/students-and-graduates/summer-jobs/
