The change negotiations held at Metsä Fibre’s Lappeenranta, Rauma, Renko and Vilppula sawmills on possible temporary layoffs up to 90 days have ended.
After the end of the change negotiations, the company has made a decision whereby, if necessary, it may implement temporary layoffs affecting all personnel at its sawmills from January 2026 until the end of June 2026. The duration of the temporary layoffs will be a maximum of 90 days. In Finland, a temporary lay-off means that work and wage payment are suspended, but the employment relationship remains in force.
The timing and duration of any layoff periods, as well as any possible changes to working time arrangements, will be planned on a site-specific basis.
