Summer job in production

Production jobs at Metsä Board’s board and pulp mills are available in Joutseno, Kaskinen, Kemi, Kyröskoski, Tampere, Simpele and Äänekoski. 


Summer jobs in production at Metsä Board’s mills include a wide range of tasks primarily in the board and pulp manufacturing process. Mainly, the work is carried out in three shifts. 
Work days in production are varied, offering plenty of experience and new things to learn. After a thorough induction, you will be able to work independently as part of a supportive and friendly team. 

We have jobs for a wide range of people from both vocational and higher education backgrounds, including early-stage students. Your educational background could be in chemical, energy, mechanical, process, electrical, automation or industrial engineering.

We expect you to be reliable and proactive, and to have initiative and good interpersonal and co-operational skills. We value your ability to work independently, and your willingness to learn and develop on the job. Most summer jobs in production also require a willingness to do shift work and to be 18 years or older.

Summer Job at Production Planning

Working in supply planning

This job can be done at one of our board mills, in Kemi, Kyröskoski, Simpele, Tampere, Äänekoski or Husum (Sweden).

Production Planning is part of Metsä Board's Sales and Operations Planning team. Production planners are responsible for the scheduling of board mill production lines for all Metsä Board's board mills. The production planners work at different mill sites, forming a team of 13 people. As a summer employee, you will work as part of this team at one of our board mills, each of which will have at least one team member to train you. Your main tasks will include the trimming of confirmed order stock and the preparation of detailed schedule for the board machines and/or sheet cutters, as well as other tasks within the production planning package.

We expect you to be reliable, flexible, proactive and cooperative. We value your ability to work independently, and your willingness to learn and develop on the job.

We hope that you have previous experience in production planning. Experience with TIPS and SAP R/3 systems would be an advantage. Fluency in English is required. We also require Finnish language skills at the Finnish mills and Swedish language skills at the Husum mill in Sweden.

The summer job in production planning is well suited for a student of, for example, industrial engineering and management at university or college level.

Summer Job at Supply Chain

METSÄ BOARD

At Metsä Board in Äänekoski, Logistics Coordinators main responsibility is to plan and organize fluent deliveries from mills to harbors, other warehouse locations, and directly to named customers. At your role you communicate with transport companies, mills´ production and loading functions, as well as other stakeholders at Metsä Board. An earlier experience in transport planning or Supply Chain related tasks will be considered as advantage.

Summer trainee position would suite, for example, for a university or collage level student of Logistics, Economics or Technology. We appreciate you to have good skills of Microsoft Office tools, other IT knowledge  (SAP, MES) would be an advantage.
Your daily work requires accuracy, logical way of working, as well as  customer orientation. Fluent Finnish, as well as good verbal and written skills in English are required.

METSÄ FIBRE

Metsä Fibre's Supply Chain Customer Service Coordinator in Joutseno is responsible for processing domestic and export customer orders in the SAP system up to invoicing. In addition, the tasks include export documentation related to orders and daily communication and liaison with internal and external customers.

The Supply Planning role in Rauma involves planning and organising production, inventory management and deliveries. The work also includes documentation and reporting and communication with internal and external customers.

The job in Joutseno or Rauma requires good ICT skills, ability to cope with pressure and fluency in English, other languages are considered an advantage. We value an upbeat approach to work, customer service orientation and good interpersonal skills. The Supply Chain Customer Service Coordinator role is well suited to polytechnic or university students in economics, industrial engineering and management, logistics or a similar field.

Metsä Fibre's supply chain summer job in Kemi includes coordinating pulp export shipments and outbound logistics, planning shipments, booking transport capacity, monitoring transport throughput and coordinating pulp trading stock levels.

Successful performance of this summer job requires good IT skills, ability to cope with pressure, accuracy and customer service orientation, as well as good collaboration skills. Previous SAP experience and English language skills would be an advantage. We are primarily looking for students majoring in Business and Logistics.

Summer Job at Sourcing and Logistics

The summer jobs in sourcing and logistics at Metsä Group are available in Espoo and Äänekoski. We have summer trainee opportunities available in three teams. The tasks are described below for each team separately.

As a summer trainee in Espoo in the Sourcing and Logistics Development team, you will be involved in supporting sourcing professionals and process owners, in activities related to contract management, facilitating electronic contract signatures and supporting the implementation phase of various supplier surveys. You will also analyse supplier and contract data and contribute to quality assurance and improvement. You will also have a possibility to contribute to the ongoing ERP project regarding the purchasing process.

In the role of summer trainee in Metsä Group’s maritime logistics service center in Espoo, you will perform short-term logistics planning (sales order and capacity balancing). The Service center provides maritime logistics and ports coordination related services to our business areas and cooperates with stakeholders. Daily operations like processing maritime transport requests, making bookings and delivery follow-ups are part of your tasks. In addition, you perform logistics invoice checks,  manage logistics supplier quality deviations and maintain logistics master data in various systems. You are in the key role to solve daily issues and to ensure high service level and quality of our deliveries. You participate actively in the cooperation with port operators and shipping lines and contribute also  to continuous improvement of the maritime logistics processes, tools and ways of working.

In the role of Service Centre summer trainee in Äänekoski, you will play a key role in the processing of procurement proposals, purchase orders, purchase order confirmations and procurement contract data. You will maintain the necessary purchasing data in our systems, monitor the progress of deliveries and be responsible for the complaints database in your area of responsibility. You will also support internal partners and suppliers at various stages of the purchasing process.

What we expect from you?

For the summer job in Sourcing and Logistics Development team in Espoo, we hope that you have a basic understanding of procurement processes beforehand. A suitable educational background for the position is for example a few years of university education in a commercial or technical field. Fluency in English is required. Finnish language skills and knowledge of PowerBI are considered an advantage.

For the summer job in Metsä Group’s maritime logistics service center in Espoo, we expect you to have relevant education in logistics, supply chain, business or technology. Previous experience in logistics or supply chain in manufacturing or shipping environment is an advantage. We value your customer service and teamwork attitude as well as process orientation. You have ability to work under pressure and balance between multiple priorities. You have good written and spoken English and Finnish skills, knowledge of any other Metsä Group local languages is an asset (e.g. Swedish, German). Your experience in ERP and transportation management systems is regarded as an advantage.

For the Äänekoski Service Centre position, we expect you to have a basic knowledge of purchasing process and a commercial or technical education. Previous experience either in purchasing or other order-supply chain management tasks and SAP and Maximo ERP systems will be considered an advantage. You are a customer service oriented, self-motivated and systematic worker. In addition, you are fluent in Finnish and English. Swedish, German, Polish, Estonian or Slovak language skill will be an advantage.

Summer Job at Technical Customer Service

The summer job in Metsä Board's Customer Feedback Centre is available in Äänekoski.

Metsä Board's Customer Feedback Centre in Äänekoski handles customer feedback on board quality and damages caused during transport. The job includes coordination of customer feedback and related samples between customers, mills and EMEA Technical Customer Service. The job combines customer service, technical board quality issues, finance and logistics.

We expect you to be reliable, flexible, proactive and cooperative. We value your ability to work independently, and your willingness to learn and develop on the job.

Good IT skills and knowledge of MS Office programs are essential. SAP knowledge is an advantage. The position requires good English and basic Finnish language skills, other language skills are considered an advantage.

Metsä Board's Product Safety and Sustainability team supports the company's business. Its mission is to ensure the product safety and compliance of our paperboards and pulps, and to promote sustainable development and the use of supporting management systems. We communicate openly and actively about the safety of our products and our responsible practices, and report on the performance of our mills and our company.

In this role you will learn about the product safety requirements of food contact materials and the aspects of responsible business practices. You will also be involved in cooperation with our mills, chemical suppliers and sales technical support. You will have the opportunity to learn about our product safety work and our sustainability activities.

Summer Job at Product Management and Technical Marketing

The summer job in Product Management and Technical Marketing at Metsä Board is available in Espoo or Tampere.

The summer job is related to product and service portfolio management at the customer interface. In the job, you get to participate in technical projects and make studies on, for example, the usability and processability of products for different packaging solutions. You will be able to carry out independent research and draw conclusions using data sources. In the technical marketing team, we also carry out competitor monitoring, service monitoring and development, and projects on carton usability, for example in digital printing. As a summer intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in these projects as well.

We expect you to be reliable, flexible, self-motivated and enthusiastic, with good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and a good attitude to work. We value your ability to work independently and your willingness to learn and develop on the job.

Good IT skills and English language are essential, Finnish language skills are an asset (but not a must), other language skills would be an advantage. The role will possibly require travelling in Finland.

Summer Job at Energy

The summer job in the Energy team at Metsä Group is available in Espoo.

Metsä Group's Technology Group Services Energy team serves mills in all our operating countries. The team's work is highly diversified, including managing the overall energy production and market, supporting emissions trading and closely related energy efficiency development in the process.

Almost all of Metsä Group's mills' energy production participates in EU emissions trading. As climate legislation is reformed, we will develop our emissions trading activities. The summer job in the Energy team is related to the energy production monitoring plans required by the emissions trading system. The work explores the possibilities for harmonizing monitoring plans and the practical procedures and measures required for harmonization.

We are looking for a third or fourth-year engineering student with good knowledge of the emissions trading system and of factory automation. Successful performance of tasks requires self-initiative, good co-operation skills and knowledge of energy technology. Experience in the use of factory automation systems and excellent Excel skills will be an advantage in the selection process. Good command of English is essential. Work place is at Metsä Group headquarters in Espoo. The task requires traveling to our factories in Finland.

Summer job at Investment Management

Metsä Group Technology function’s investment management team supports all of our business areas (Metsä Board, Metsä Fibre, Metsä Forest, Metsä Tissue and Metsä Wood) as well as manufacturing plants in investment planning, execution and management. Risk management is also an integral part of investment management. The team is also responsible for development work of investment management which includes versatile list of various projects. 

The summer trainee will have a strong connection to development agenda implementation and further development. Development work has various angles including e.g. the description of the pre-engineering process, the definition of the project management process, building and planning of different types of investment reports and Metsä Group mill standard definition and build-up. The job is located in Espoo.

This summer job is best suited for a university student from e.g. technology, chemistry or financing. The job requires good analytical skills and some basic understanding of investments. In addition, basic understanding of the production processes in forest products industry is valuated as an advantage. Proactiveness, integrity, good team skills and positive attitude are important personal skills and requirements in order to be successful in this job. Possible previous working experience or projects in forest or process industries are additional benefits and these will be taken into account during the selection process. Summer Job at Marketing Communications

Metsä Wood's marketing communications intern works in Espoo, within international marketing, internal and external communications. Main responsibilities include multi-channel marketing content creation and publishing: social media and web pages, newsletter, customer communication and internal communication. Other tasks include publishing press releases, updating presentation materials, managing translations and image bank, and producing internal publications.

Metsä Board's marketing communications summer job in Espoo includes versatile communication and marketing tasks in an international team. In your work, you will be able to make use of your wide-ranging skills in writing texts, updating websites and intranet, and creating social media content. You will also assist with event organisation, publishing press releases and updating presentation materials.

We expect from you fluency in English and Finnish, other languages are considered as an asset. You are an active and cooperative team player who has attention to detail and ability to follow deadlines.  We value your ability to work independently and your willingness to learn and develop on the job.

Summer Job at Credit Management

The summer job of Credit Management is available in Espoo.  

The scope of your work in an office job at Metsä Group will be wide and varied. Credit management team is a centralized group organization, responsible for the operational credit management and credit control for customers in Nordics and Baltics for all legal entities within Metsä Group. 

The main duties for your role will involve contacting customers who are late with their payment, both collection calls and/or correspondence in a fast paced and goal oriented collections department. You will be working independently and proactively, within the guidelines set by operational superior. For the right candidate, we can also offer the possibility to get insight into financial analysis of customer credit risk.

The job requires good IT skills, ability to cope with pressure and good communication skills in Swedish and English. Fluent Finnish will also be considered as an advantage. Strong analytical skills are as well a plus.

Summer Job at Data and Analytics

The summer job of Data and analytics is available in Espoo.  

The summer trainees work focuses on the data & analytics solutions and their governance models and processes with our experts on data & analytics area. The work tasks vary and they can be from development work to problem solving and IT support around the data & analytics. You will support the organization in all our core processes and functions within data & analytics development and support, for example in production, sales & marketing, supply chain management, and procurement. The tasks can vary based on the trainees experience and competence. The tasks can involve learning and developing our tools and platforms: MS Power BI, MS Azure and/or SAP Analytics Cloud and our processes and governance models. Work may also include documentation and updating our intranet.

To succeed in the work, we expect from you studies in some of the following areas: Information Technology, Data Science, Industrial Engineering and Management, Business Administration, or similar. You need competence in using MS Office tools and we appreciate experience in data and analytics in your studies or previous work assignments.
