Metsä Group supports the well-being of children and young people in many ways. With our partners, we support exercise opportunities for young people around the country, in addition to investing in preventing social exclusion among young people and strengthening their relationship with forests.
Metsä Group sponsors programmes that support the well-being of children and young people. In order to support young people in their daily lives as extensively as possible, we cooperate with national partners around the country. Our sponsorship has the following focuses:
- Supporting exercise among children and young people in cooperation with the Finnish Olympic Committee
- Strengthening children’s and young people’s relationship with forests in cooperation with the Finnish 4H organisation and its more than 200 local associations
- Preventing social exclusion among children and young people in cooperation with the Family Federation of Finland’s helpline for boys.
By supporting the Wings for Youth campaign of the Finnish Olympic Committee’s sports academies, Metsä Group donates altogether 30,000 hours of coaching lessons for secondary school students in eight locations where Metsä Group has operations. We work to support well-being among young people by offering opportunities for inspiring, sporty lifestyles. Finnish Sports Academies is a network of 20 local sports academies coordinated by the Finnish Olympic Committee. At the national level, the network includes 160 secondary schools, around 400 professional coaches and a total of 16,000 young athletes. The common goal of the entire network is for young people to fulfil their potential in sport and other areas of life. The purpose is to provide young athletes with a balanced structure for each day in terms of training, school and other areas of life. This also supports the development of their life management skills.
