Timo Lehesvirta

Timo Lehesvirta started as Metsä Group's Leading Nature Expert in June 2022. His objectives include the strategic development and integration of biodiversity and other sustainability issues into the company's operations. Before joining Metsä Group, Timo worked at Sitra as a senior expert in the Climate and Nature Solutions team. He has extensive experience in environmental management in the forest industry in Finland and internationally. He is a biologist by training, with a M.Sc. from the University of Turku. Outside of work, he is an enthusiastic birdwatcher.

Silja Pitkänen-Arte

Silja Pitkänen-Arte started her post as sustainability manager at Metsä Group in March 2021. Before that, Silja worked for a full decade at the Finnish Forest Industry Federation, dealing with forest certification, stakeholder cooperation, and communication. The forest is also part of Silja’s daily life outside of work: not only does she enjoy hiking, picking mushrooms and berries in the forest, but is also a remote owner of a small forest.

Sustainability Manager, Metsä Fibre

Marko Ruottinen

Marko Ruottinen works at Metsä Fibre as Sustainability Manager. Since the early 2000s, he has held diverse roles in R&D, sustainability, and customer service across Metsä Group, giving him a broad perspective on sustainable practices throughout the value chain. He particularly enjoys collaborating with customers to drive shared sustainability goals. Marko holds a degree in Papermaking Technology from the University of Jyväskylä, and outside work he loves spending time in nature with his family.
