Metsä Group integrates maintenance operations of its plywood and Kerto LVL mills as part of its own organisation. At present, the maintenance of the company’s plywood and Kerto LVL mills has been outsourced to the industrial maintenance company Quant. On 24 April 2024, Metsä Group and Quant Finland and Quant Estonia signed an agreement on the transfer of business for the maintenance operations to Metsä Group, and the transfer is scheduled to take place on 1 October 2024.
The Finnish Competition Authority has approved a business arrangement whereby Metsä Group will integrate the maintenance operations of its plywood and Kerto LVL mills in Finland into its own organisation as of 1 October 2024. As regards the maintenance operations in Estonia, the business transaction is still subject to approval by the Estonian Competition Authority.
Related to the arrangements, Quant's employees working at Metsä Group's plywood and Kerto LVL mills (approximately 150 people in total) will transfer to the service of Metsä Group starting from 1 October 2024 through a transfer of business.
"Maintenance is an important part of Metsä Wood's industrial efficiency. For the past seven years, we have been developing maintenance operations and occupational safety in cooperation with Quant. As a next step, we will integrate the maintenance operations into our own organisation and further strengthen the productive cooperation between maintenance and production", says Jaakko Anttila, Executive Vice President of Metsä Wood.
