Metsäverkko is an online service, offered free of charge to Metsä Group’s customers, which makes it easier for you to manage your forest assets. Wood trade is also easy to conduct online – as well as safe, using your banking codes or mobile identification. You can log into Metsäverkko to review and update your forest plan, request a quote, and place an order for forest management work. You can also examine your forest plan virtually and hold a video conference with your forest specialist.

As an owner-member, you can use Metsäverkko to invest in participation shares, handle your forest tax accounts and monitor the growth and value development of your forest. You will get the most out of Metsäverkko when you are our owner-member and have uploaded your forest plan into the service.

In Metsäverkko, all your information and necessary documents are always in the same place and up-to-date. By using electronic authorisation, forest partnerships and other organisations can authorise a single person to handle all the matters concerning the customer relationship.

Metsäverkko is available to all forest owners

If you own forest in Finland but are not an owner-member of Metsä Group, you can still use the Metsäverkko service free of charge. You will then have access to many Metsäverkko functions, including the forest plan and virtual forest, wood trade, agreements and the archive. By joining as an owner-member, you will have access to all the features of Metsäverkko. You can submit your membership application in Metsäverkko.

All the essential information about your forest assets is in the forest plan. Once you have uploaded your forest plan into Metsäverkko, you can easily maintain it by updating the stand information and ticking off planned measures. You can also add images and notes. The annual growth calculation enables you to follow the growth of your forest assets.

Metsäverkko displays comprehensive information about the growing stock in your forest, as well as the planned and proposed harvesting and forest management measures for individual stands. For each proposed measure, you also see the area of the stand, the budget and the proposed date for the measure.

The value of growing stock is displayed for individual forest estates and stands, which allows you to better estimate and monitor the value development of your forest assets. In addition, our contract customers have access to diverse simulation and optimisation models for forest assets.

If the Metsään.fi service contains open forest resource data on your forest estates, you can upload them directly into the Metsäverkko service. You can use the material in Metsään.fi in the same way as a forest plan to manage and make plans for your forest assets.

In Metsäverkko, you can request a quote for wood trade and forest management work from our forest specialists, as well as conduct wood trade and place forest management orders conveniently with a single electronic form. The easiest way to make an offer is if you have uploaded your forest plan to the service, but this is not necessary. You can request an offer for either standing sales or delivery sales.

You can accept an offer securely with an electronic signature, i.e., by using your online banking codes. If the forest estate has several owners, all the owners can accept the offer electronically, which streamlines the process considerably.

If you conclude a deal in Metsäverkko, you avoid handling and posting paper documents. What is more, all the documents related to electronic trade are stored safely in Metsäverkko. In addition, you can browse your forest management invoices in Metsäverkko, where they are stored and archived safely.

Metsäverkko provides very comprehensive reports on the agreed work. All the agreements and other documents are also stored safely in the service, and you can review them at any time. In Metsäverkko, you can have personal video conferences with your own forest specialist. In a video conference, both parties see the topics of discussion at all times – as if you were at the same table. When discussing an offer, any proposed changes can be agreed during the negotiation, and the forest specialist can then submit an amended offer for approval. Video conferences can be attended by several people involved in the membership, such as the different parties in a forest partnership.

The Metsäverkko video conference offers many advantages compared to normal communication tools, such as Teams or Zoom, because it has been developed as a tool to facilitate forestry planning with a forest specialist. Efforts have been made to ensure information security, and strong identification is required for video conferences.

With the Metsäverkko mobile application, your forest plan is always at hand. The application helps you navigate to the stand you want, check up on any urgent work and request an offer on wood trade and forest management work.

The Metsäverkko tax tool is a service offered to our owner-members to manage forestry accounting: you can pick the income from your wood trade with Metsä Group and the expenses for forest management work ordered from us and add the data directly into your tax accounting.

During the year, you can also add any other forestry income and expenses to the tax tool, as well as entries in the driver’s log. The Accounting section in the Metsäverkko mobile application allows you to enter and save receipts and update the driver’s log.

Accounting serves as a basis for the tax return, making it easier to prepare the tax return and even easier to submit it to the tax authorities: directly from Metsäverkko. Your accounting from previous years remains stored in Metsäverkko. Forest deductions, provisions and write-offs are automatically transferred to the following tax year, if the data have been entered in the service.

The Metsäverkko mobile service has a separate application for insect damage that uses artificial intelligence, machine learning and remote surveying data. The application is available in the forest planning section as a separate map layer that you can enable in the map layer menu. The application detects changes in trees that indicate the trees are under heavy stress. Based on the data it collects, the application makes an assessment of potential forest damage. The application detects damage at a very early stage, sometimes even before it is visible to the human eye. The application assesses both the probability and severity of damage. Forest damage is most typically caused by an insect such as the bark beetle. The data are restricted so that potential damage is only displayed for the forest owner’s own estates. The damaged areas are displayed as reddish pixels.

If the application indicates potential forest damage, the forest owner should visit the spot to have a closer look. If the area shows signs of resin-soaking or of drying trees, it is time to contact the forest specialist.
