Metsä Wood, part of Metsä Group, announced on 13 May 2026 that it would start statutory negotiations as part of measures to respond to weakened profitability and changes in the operating environment. The negotiations concerned Metsä Wood’s personnel in Finland and Estonia.
The statutory negotiations in Finland and Estonia have been completed, resulting in a reduction of 100 positions in total. In addition, the company will implement reorganisations of tasks and operations aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening competitiveness. The measures will lead to the termination of employment or a change in duties for 72 people.
