Metsä Group’s Wood Supply and Forest Services are hiring young people aged 16‒17 for tree planting next summer. The summer job will last for three weeks in June. The application period runs from 14 February to 1 March 2024.
“We want to give young people a chance to gain work experience and learn about job opportunities in the forest sector,” says Marko Yläjärvi, Production Manager at Metsä Group.
The young people will work in teams of eight in different parts of Finland. Each team will be led by an experienced summer employee who will transport their team to the site and supervise their work and safety. Before they start working, the young people will be provided with a thorough introduction to the planting work and safety issues.
The work – the planting of seedlings – was selected because it is suitable for many but does not require previous experience.
“The forest sector can also offer jobs for those under the age of 18. The important thing in planting is to have the strength to carry out physical labour in sometimes difficult terrain. We’re looking for energetic and motivated young people,” says Yläjärvi.
Summer jobs can be applied for on Metsä Group’s website from 14 February to 1 March 2024. Jobs are available in Rovaniemi, Joensuu, Seinäjoki, Mikkeli, Ikaalinen and Turku.
