Walls and stairs can be made from the same material, which simplifies planning and execution. Kerto LVL is suitable for new construction and renovation as well as building extensions and supports flexible, resource-saving construction methods.

In multi-storey timber construction, planners, architects and contractors face the challenge of creating load-bearing components with high strength, low material consumption and maximum flexibility. Particularly in renovations and extensions, space saving designs are required that can still handle substantial loads. In stair construction too, slim, easy-to-install and permanently stable solutions are also required in staircase construction.

Versatility and efficiency from one material

Kerto LVL Q- and L-panels provide a powerful foundation for load-bearing and bracing walls as well as for stair construction. Kerto LVL panels are characterised by an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. The high dimensional accuracy and homogeneity of the material enable precise, slender components that can be used in both new construction and renovation.

A particular advantage is that wall and stair elements can be made from the same material, which simplifies planning and execution and creates material consistency throughout the building. The load bearing wall takes on the stair loads, so no additional support structures are required. The high dimensional accuracy of Kerto LVL allows perfectly fitting connections and rapid installation.

Load-bearing walls with minimal space requirements

Walls made from Kerto LVL Q-panels impress with their slim design and high load-bearing capacity. Even with wall thicknesses of 39 millimetres or more, high cantilever loads such as those from built in cabinets can be easily managed. Building stabilization is achieved with just 45-millimetre-thick boards, which leads to optimal space utilization particularly in tight floor plans. Thanks to large available formats – up to 2.5 metres wide and 25 metres long – installations spanning multiple floors are possible with minimal joints. Installation can be done with visible or hidden clips, nails or screws.

Flexibility and design in stair construction

Kerto LVL also offers special advantages in stair building. The crosswise veneer layers – approximately 20 percent of the veneers are oriented across the grain – stabilize the components and ensure long-lasting dimensional stability. This is a real benefit for carpenters and stair builders, since rework or later corrections are minimized.

The slim construction requires less material and weight than solid wood or CLT solutions, without compromising the load-bearing capacity. Kerto LVL stairs serve double duty: they work as temporary site access during construction, eliminating the need for separate stairs, then receive a high-quality finish in the final phase. The material also works beautifully as a finished surface, creating a modern loft aesthetic that celebrates authentic, natural materials.

Efficient and flexible solutions for timber construction

Kerto LVL opens new possibilities for architects and builders to develop economical and functional detail solutions in timber construction. The combination of technical strenght, dimensional accuracy and straightforward processing supports smart and innovative construction concepts – from slender walls to stairs – and thereby contributes to future-proof buildings.
