Responsible corporate culture

Metsä Tissue’s company culture is based on our values – responsible profitability, reliability, cooperation and renewal. Furthermore, we are committed to promoting diversity, equality and inclusion in our daily work. Both values and ethical principles are an integrated part of Metsä Tissue's business strategy.

Metsä Tissue carried out an Employee Engagement Survey in autumn 2025. The survey provided an insight into how our employees perceive their work, workplace community, leadership and Metsä Tissue as an employer. The results will be used to develop operations and improve us as an employer. In 2025, the overall index of the results was A/70.7 (2024: A+/72.0), which is in line with the European benchmark data. Our target is to reach the index of AAA by 2030.

Based on 2025 survey results Metsä Tissue’s strengths lie with efficiency, team spirit and knowledge sharing – areas for improvement are future outlook, decision-making and information flow.

At team level, day-to-day work is going well – this is a solid foundation on which we can build. At the same time, it’s important that we’re able to clarify our direction and strengthen our confidence in what the future will bring. The current changes naturally raise questions, which is why it’s even more important that our communication, decision-making and the implementation of our values in our day-to-day work are clear. Development isn’t something that happens in isolation. It’s a continuous joint effort”, says SVP HR, Jukka Oinonen.

Ethics index

A 100% responsible corporate culture is one of our strategic sustainability objectives for 2030. The realisation of this objective is measured by an ethics index, which is based on the Personnel Survey that is conducted at Metsä Group every year. The study gives insights into personnel’s experience of the implementation of ethical principles in everyday life at the workplace. Concrete measures are agreed upon based on the annually conducted survey to strengthen the ethical corporate culture further.

Share of women in  leadership roles

One of Metsä Tissue's sustainability 2030 targets is to have a share of women in the leadership roles of at least 35%. Our measures towards reaching the 2030 target include increasing the share of women across our organisation and on all organisational levels through internal job rotation and anonymous recruitment, as well as enhancing gender equality in leadership and development programmes.

Metsä for All index

With the Metsä for all index, we are measuring our employees’ experience of diversity, equality and inclusion. Promoting diversity, equality and inclusion as one of our 2030 sustainability objectives, and the Metsä for all index gives us insight into how our employees evaluate the realisation of these principles. The index is measured through the annual Personnel Survey and was introduced and measured for the first time in 2024. Our target is to reach 100% by 2030. In 2025, we reached the index of 74,7 %.
