As part of its commitment to share the latest details on its emerging designs for the site, Metsä will host a public exhibition on Thursday 21st March at the RaisE Business Centre, Tom Pudding Way, Goole from 3:00pm to 7:30pm.

For those unable to attend the in-person event, a virtual exhibition of the plans will also be available online at tinyurl.com/metsagoole.

Metsä announced it had chosen Goole as the site for this landmark investment in September 2023. The planned investment would be worth hundreds of millions of pounds. Subject to planning and environmental permits, the new mill would increase the UK’s self-sufficiency by more than 30 percent in the production of tissue products. The proposed mill would be the largest of its kind in the UK and create 400+ jobs at the facility, as well as thousands more across the supply chain and the local economy.

Metsä Tissue’s activity is rooted in sustainability, with a target for all products to be manufactured from fully fossil-fuel-free raw materials by 2030 as the company strives to achieve a net zero society. The Goole facility will use cutting-edge sustainable production technologies to deliver an efficient and modern facility with world-class environmental performance.

Alan Jeffery, Metsä Tissue’s Technical Director said:

Since announcing our plans last September, we’ve been busy developing the designs for the site and are excited to share more of those details with the local community in Goole. From the outset, we have been keen to maintain an open dialogue with residents and we welcome their feedback. The public exhibition is an important step in this process and we look forward to welcoming members of the community to our exhibition next week .”

The event is the latest demonstration of Metsä’s commitment to proactively engage with the community in which it plans to invest. Last November, it held a “Meet Metsä” event in Goole, hosted by CEO Esa Kaikkonen.

Those wishing to offer feedback during the public consultation have until Thursday 5th April to provide their comments. This can be done at the in-person exhibition or via:
