Timo Riikonen appointed as SVP, Greaseproof Papers business
Metsä Tissue’s Greaseproof Papers (GPP) business will be separated to its own legal entities in Finland and Germany and a stand-alone business unit within Metsä Tissue. The legal entity separation will take place in Finland in May 2021 and in Germany in July 2021. GPP business will continue to be an important part of Metsä Tissue and Metsä Group.
In Finland the new company will be named Metsä Greaseproof Papers Oy and in Germany Metsä Greaseproof Papers GmbH. The new entities will be led by Timo Riikonen who has been appointed SVP, Greaseproof Papers business as of March 1st. Until now, he has been in the role of SVP, Business Development at Metsä Tissue and earlier he has held various leadership positions in Metsä Group.
“I am excited to take over the responsibility in the lead of the GPP business and to get to work with the whole GPP team. The GPP business is well positioned as especially the market of safe and sustainable food contact papers is expected to continue its growth in the future. The future set-up as a stand-alone business unit and own legal entities provides a good platform for the development of the business,” Timo Riikonen says.
The separation does not affect the operations of the current GPP business which will continue as before, under the new legal entities. The employees currently working for the GPP business in Finland and Germany will transfer to the new legal entities. No reductions to workforce are made.
