The 3D fibre product project is in the pre-commercial sales phase and the goal is to sell Muoto products in small batches and receive market feedback on both commercial factors and the performance of the products in different end uses.

Muoto products were extensively tested in Kesko's laboratory at the beginning of the year, and based on the good results, we agreed on a pilot operation at Kesko’s HQ, K Kampus. The Muoto Twin Bowl products were in test use at the K Cafe on the K Campus for a month in April-May. Customers were among the first to test the new product in connection with Fresh Servant's Salad Master buffet.

"During the pilot use trial, we collected feedback from typical users. A total of 35 people responded to the survey, and the feedback was very positive in terms of both functional features and design. Some of the test participants wished for a larger and deeper bowl", says Product Manager Tarja Heikkilä.

"For a long time, we have had the pleasure of being involved in sparring the Metsä Spring Muoto project by bringing our experience of current customer preferences and the functional features required of products to the project.  It's great to see how the Muoto products have developed so that we were able to pilot them together!" says Hannele Dahl-Nevalainen, Development Manager for Kesko's grocery trade.

The feedback received during the trial use shows that the development of Muoto products has been successful in many areas; The products can be used for serving and take-away packaging of similar foods, the design of the Muoto Twin concept is distinctive and additional parts such as lids can be offered for the products if necessary.

We will continue our development work and aim to increase the number of test runs in various end uses.
