Markus Nuopponen (PhD in Polymer Chemistry) has been appointed R&D Manager at Metsä Spring as of 25 March 2024. At Metsä Spring, Markus will focus on developing the Kuura textile fibre process, especially its pulp pre-treatment part, working in close cooperation with external research service suppliers. In Metsä Spring’s organisation, Markus is part of the Group R&D team, reporting to Katariina Kemppainen, SVP Group R&D.
Markus has extensive experience in developing new cellulosic materials, both related to the production of such materials, as well as their applications. He has previously worked in various research and manager positions in UPM’s innovation projects. In recent years, he has worked as a Senior Expert developing cellulosic textile fibres at Infinited Fiber Company.
