Metsä Group’s investment of just under EUR 25 million in the production of Muoto fibre packaging in Äänekoski, Finland, marks an important milestone in the project’s transition from the development phase to the commercial phase. To support this new phase, we are strengthening the Muoto organisation effective 1 October 2026 as follows.
Veli-Matti Hulkko has been appointed Director, Technology and Production. He is responsible for the Muoto production environment as a whole, a scope that encompasses both the existing demo plant in Äänekoski and the investment project aimed at establishing a new production facility. He will continue to report to Antti Valtonen, the head of the Muoto project.
Mikko Järvinen, who has now been appointed Technology Manager, is responsible for production operations at the demo plant. He will continue to report to Veli-Matti.
Rami Karhu and Antti Lamminaho are joining the Muoto project. Both are moving to the Muoto project from the pre-engineering team of the Kuura project. Rami’s new role involves procurement matters related to the investment project. In this procurement capacity, he also supports our Bio-CO2 project, which is currently conducting pre-engineering work for a potential carbon capture plant in Rauma, Finland. He will also coordinate the Muoto team’s long-term technology development. Antti has been appointed EIA Manager (electrical, instrumentation and automation). Rami and Antti report to Veli-Matti.
