Traces of the North event 2025

We are excited to warmly welcome you to a captivating journey on 6th-8th May 2025. Follow the Traces of the North where people live in harmony with nature and its habitat, from harsh winter to the nightless night of summer. Our journey takes you through the captivating wilderness of Finnish Lapland to the Kemi bioproduct mill and city of Rovaniemi.

    Programme

    Action day: May 7 | Travel days: May 6 and May 8

    6 May – Arrival day

    At the airports in Rovaniemi and Oulu, our staff members will be present to welcome you and guide you to your transportation to the hotel. Transportation from the airport to the hotel has been arranged for all guests. 

    Parking is complimentary for guests arriving by car. Kindly let us know your car details at check-in.

    Upon arrival, you will receive a printed handbook with essential event information, including the event locations and other points of interest.We recommend familiarising yourself with this book and bringing it along on the Action Day. 

    We have arranged your accommodation at Scandic Rovaniemi City for the duration of the event.    

    On the arrival day, we welcome you to join us for a drop-in buffet dinner at Scandic Rovaniemi City at 19 – 22 Finnish time.  

    7 May – Action day

    Our bus leaves from the hotel at 8.30 AM Finnish time. 

    We will take you to a Finnish forest to explore the beauty of Finnish nature and to learn about sustainable forest management 

    During the mill visit you will experience the latest technology and high efficiency of our unique Kemi bioproduct mill.  

    Buffet lunch will be served at Kemi SnowCastle. 

    In the seminar session our experts will give you insights into the pulp business, sustainability and pulp-based innovations. 

    We will return to the hotel around 17.45.  

    In the evening, we will gather for a delicious dinner and enjoy the flavors of Lapland.  Bus transportation to the dinner venue leaves at 18.45 from the hotel. 

    8 May – Departure day

    We will arrange transportation from our hotel to Rovaniemi airport.

    Accommodation

    We have arranged your accommodation for the duration the event.

    Metsä Fibre will have an information desk at the hotel where we will provide more detailed information about the event upon your arrival. Our staff will be happy to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

    In case your company policy requires you to pay for your own accommodation, you can still use the room we have booked and settle the payment yourself upon check-out.

    Dress code

    The dress code for this event is mostly casual (business casual for the dinner on the 7 May), but please remember to dress warmly and pack comfortable outdoor shoes for the mill and forest visits.

    • Please note that in the North, the weather can be quite chilly in early May – we may even experience subzero temperatures! So, remember to bring warm clothes and shoes.  Due to the low temperatures, we will provide you with a complimentary warm jacket and a beanie.  
    • We will provide you with all the necessary safety gear, but please remember to wear flat shoes for the mill visit.
