As a member of the FSG, Metsä Group also commits to producing and sourcing forest products that do not contribute to deforestation.
Metsä Group participated in developing the membership principles, in which we commit to:
- Sustainable forest management and to sourcing and producing forest products that do not contribute to deforestation.
- Resource efficiency and innovation in our operations and products.
- Help address climate change by optimizing the use and reach of renewable energy, materials and products.
- The responsible use and reuse of water resources.
- The well-being, health and safety of our workforce.

“As a sign of our shared commitment and as a condition of our FSG membership, we report annually on associated key performance indicators to measure and prove our joint progress in sustainability”, says Päivi Makkonen, Director, Sustainability, who participated in the revision of the principles. “Each commitment is mapped against a key performance indicator which is used to assess results annually.”
The Forest Solutions Group is a global platform for strategic collaboration across the forest products value chain. Together we aim to bring more of the world’s forests under sustainable management, expand markets for responsible forest products and ensure growth and vitality of forest resources today and for future generations.
