"Metsä Fibre encourages studying and continuous learning."
My career at Metsä Fibre started in 2007 with a training programme for mining engineers. During the training, I toured the Äänekoski, Rauma and Kaskinen mills; then I worked as a mining engineer for about four months at the Kaskinen mill. I started in a similar position at our Rauma mill in April 2008.
At the beginning of this year, I started in my new position as an operations manager at the Rauma mill. The work is new to me and there is a lot to learn. Learning is something I am used to. In addition to working, I am also currently studying mechanical and power plant engineering in the continuing education programme at a university of applied sciences. I am really pleased at how flexible the employer has been and has made studying while working a possibility.
The Rauma mill’s operating model encourages open and direct communication. There is no threshold for discussing any issues. We have good team spirit and I get together with my co-workers also during my free time. Playing floorball with my colleagues on a regular basis helps me to stay physically fit.
