I joined Metsä Tissue back in 1997, first as an operator assistant and currently I work as a tissue machine operator at the Kreuzau mill, Germany. I keep the machine in good condition and, on most days, to produce several tonnes of high-quality tissue ready for conversion into the products you know from your supermarket’s shelves. I personally check every roll that leaves the machine and document the main quality data.
My goal is to help Metsä Tissue deliver the best possible products to our customers. I look for ways of saving raw materials and minimizing water and energy consumption. We strive to take good care of the environment. Every morning shift, our team members meet for a daily brainstorming session. We look at our daily production figures, health and safety statistics and technical inventory to see if there is anything we can do better. We participate in developing new products to strengthen our position.
Job rotation and open dialogue are widely encouraged. We get a lot of support and feedback from our managers. This includes the staff surveys that are carried out with related discussions within our teams. Also the occupational health and safety at work is continuously monitored and e.g. medical checks, cooperation with health insurance and non-smoking programs are being organized. Individual development is supported by on the job training and the necessary trainings.
